Description

This Untitled work of acrylic on canvas was created in 2019 by California prison artist Donald "C-Note" Hooker. In 2019, C-Note was a part of a 8-week sculpture and painting class ran by artist Jim Dahl, on behalf of the Muckenthaler Cultural Center. Dahl, known for his eclectic variations in visual experiences taught C-Note and others inside the prison how to paint with acrylic paint and brushes. C-Note produced several studies. This Untitled work was made up from C-Note's imagination. Up to this point, he had no real experience with working in a wet medium, his works are primarily sourced from a dry medium perspective, most likely due to his circumstance as a prisoner.
